Witches caution against post-election violence

High Chief (Dr) Okhue Iboi

…congratulate Tinubu

Witches have called for calm across the country over the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.
Acting under the aegis of White Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria (WWAWAN ), the group congratulated the winner of the election, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, urging him to be magnanimous in victory.
Its spokesman, Dr Okhue Oboi, who spoke in Ibadan, said the election was keenly contested, noting that the margin of loss wasn’t so wide.
“At our last meeting where we reviewed the outcome of the election, we noted that in spite of some of the lapses, the outcome reflected by and large, the wishes of the people. We commend Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi  of the PDP and Labour Party respectively for taking their grievances to court instead of being on the streets.
“We noted that a repeat of the carnage of of the defunct Western Region that led to the infamous Operation Wet i e  or that of 1983 in Ondo State will not be the way to go again. We don’t want inter-ethnic strife because the consequences will be too huge,” Okhue said.
According to him, the outcome of the election has vindicated the position of G-5.
” We saw it coming and warned Atiku. We asked him to see us for a way forward but he refused. Now see what has become of him. Tinubu has finally retired him to Dubai.
” For Obi, he still has an opportunity to contest.
” He created an authentic third force, the first in the history of Nigeria. He disrupted the electioneering space and created political upsets. He should embrace peace and work with Tinubu, who has extended his hand of fellowship to all the other contestants. And that is a mark of a true statesmanship.,” he added.
He urged the president-elect to see himself as first among equals and form a government of national unity to neutralise the toxic and divisive campaigns that marked the presidential poll.
” We urge Tinubu to quickly unite the country, heal the wounds, create more programmers to accommodate our youths that are educated but cannot get jobs. Anywhere our youths go outside Nigeria, they excel. Tinubu should also remember the masses and put in place pro-people policies. He cannot afford to fail the people of this country,” he said.
